From the very start, we had two core philosophies at the Indie Stylery, that our brand should be a subset of your brand. Our products are meant to enhance your style and comfort, not use you as a tool for marketing. The second being, we want to have the most environmentally friendly supply chains possible.
Minimum Branding, maximum quality.
We believe, our brand should just be a symbol of trust and quality. Our T-Shirts come with a removable label and one fixed tag on the left-hand shoulder. The purpose of this design is that we see our products are a tool that helps our customers express their personality and thoughts with the world, not a marketing model for our brand.
The design and the appeal of the T-Shirt should be driven by the quality of the material and stitching. This is why we have purposely removed the long-tags and massive logos found in casual wear and stripped it to the bare minimum. Our care instructions are neatly tucked behind the shoulder label and the size label, made with quality satin is small and tucked inside the collar. Both these add-ons were required but care has been put to make them blend into the overall product.
Packaging Fuss & Avoiding Gimmicks
A standard practice in the consumer market is to take bulky packaging, a box with paper and other items. This is done, not to enhance the use of the product, but as a trick to masquerade quality and justify high pricing. A T-Shirt does not need a box for logistics, it’s expensive and extremely wasteful.
We use brown paper bags with a wax coating. These are tamper-proof and water-proof, perfect for delivery. Our idea being, that we are selling what we show, at a reasonable price. Thus, we feel that the additional hoopla, which costs less than 10-15 rupees per product, is not worth it. Especially considering the environmental costs.
Alongside the T-Shirt, we have an invoice. We are currently brainstorming ideas to reduce this even further so that our products can have minimum overhead environmental costs.
Delivery System & Being Customer-centric
We work with a number of logistics companies throughout India, to provide a nationwide delivery and thus, have little control over the system. However, our vision is to work towards a system where, we can ship products at a bi-weekly interval, so that we are not wasting logistics carbon, chasing a fast delivery for a non-essential good. However, currently, we ship them as soon as an order is processed.
