If you have ordered any product from our website, chances are you got it delivered in a brown courier bag. The decision not to use single-use plastic across our value chain was one of our first as a brand. We took this decision even before some states acted and started banning single-use plastics.
While it is undeniable that paper bags are better for the environment than single-use plastic, they do have some drawbacks. It takes four times as much energy to manufacture a paper bag, as compared to plastic, and the raw materials have to come from trees, a natural resource that is otherwise carbon-fixing. Making paper bags not only adds waste to the world, it kills one of our greatest tools for fighting pollution. So is their a better solution that serves the primary purposes of packaging and also does more for the environment?
Well, we came across a new type of packaging that uses corn-starch and recycled materials to create a compostable packaging. This would start degrading faster than paper bags, even in the landfill environments. Certified IS/ISO 17088, this packging is tamper proof and durable, allowing for a safer delivery.
But that’s not all, we also added a small compartment in the packaging where we add asorted seeds. It’s not 100% reliable but when used with soil composting it does help further by growing a tree.
